Kerry Howard is a registered psychologist who is skilled in working with people experiencing a wide range of emotional, personal and relationship difficulties - with a particular specialty in trauma. She has experience working in both the public and private mental health sectors and received her training at the Australian National University.

Kerry has been working in a range of psychological settings for the past six years, including with headspace and as a School Psychologist.  She has extensive experience during that time working with adolescents and adults. Kerry has a specialty in EMDR Therapy – she is a former Director/Secretary of the Board of the EMDR Association of Australia.  Kerry has experience working with both adolescents and adults in addiction treatment, with a specialised focus on food and weight management.  

Kerry’s primary modality is EMDR Therapy and has used it extensively with adolescent and adult clients who present with depression, anxiety and trauma as well as treating more complex trauma presenting as PTSD.  

Kerry was interviewed in 2015 for her insight and approach to treatment of PTSD, specifically as it relates to Defence Members, for an important Parliamentary Library Monograph on 'Changing Attitudes to Mental Illness in the Australian Defence Force: a long way to go...' written by Dr Edward Scarr.

Kerry also works with a variety of other therapeutic models in addition to EMDR Therapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Mindfulness, Image Relationship Therapy and Resource State Therapy.

Sara Sorenson

Clinical Mental Health Counsellor
Masters of Rehabilitation Counselling, EMDR Therapist

Sara's training and experience took place in the United States, where she completed a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling and was licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) and Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).  Sara's counseling experience includes working with individuals from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and mental health symptoms and disorders.  Sara has worked intensively with foster children, sexual abuse victims and people with addictions.

‍‍‍After being trained in EMDR therapy, Sara quickly realized how effective this modality proved in treating a range of issues, particularly trauma, and is passionate about facilitating the level of healing and insight that can be uniquely achieved with this approach.  She also has experience with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Art Therapy. She finds it most effective to address individual needs and preferences with a creative integration of theory and application along with EMDR protocols.  She enjoys working as a team with the client to explore where they are now, where they would like to be, and how they can get there!

Sara has a genuine interest in people and truly enjoys making connections wherever she can.  She is constantly looking for new things to learn and areas to improve in both her personal and professional life, and appreciates the challenges that contribute to progress.  She is drawn to adventure in all it's forms, particularly in nature, travel and creative expression.
